The Materials and Manufacturing for Aerospace and Extremes Laboratory (MMAX Lab) gets started at UCSB.
We'll be setting up equipment to perform powder synthesis and characterization of novel alloys, processing of near-net-shape high temperature ceramics, fabrication of porous metallic structures, and generation of millimeter-scale functional ceramics. Our fundamental research will explore the influence of feedstock and processing parameters on material microstructure and performance characteristics.
We look forward to growing over the next few years and contributing to the scientific and professional community!
